Having originally found the sound through a random Dreamscape 15v16 tape in 1994, living out in the sticks, it wasn’t until the turn of the century when Ascension properly found and fell in love with Drum & Bass/Jungle, often frequenting large raves at the Sanctuary in MK as well as nights such as Movement at Bar Rhumba and Ram at The End.

It was initially a journey fuelled by DJing, playing at local parties in Aylesbury, before securing a residency at the Uncertified night there which ran from 2003-2006. Soon after, he moved to London to try and get more involved in the scene where he still resides today.

Highlights over the years include playing at Ministry of Sound, Brixton Academy, multiple appearances at SE1 for Moondance’s legendary New Years Eve raves and winning a number of DJ competitions over the years including two for DNBA, the Sun & Bass DJ competition and innerSoul, spanning a number of D&B sub-genres from the soulful liquid sounds through deeper techy sounds to heavy amen smashers.

Ascension has also dipped his toe in the promotion game, hosting nights under the “Middle Skool” banner in the years preceding the pandemic. A new venture is currently in the works under the name SubCulture. with a first night in London coming in the first half of 2022.

Determined to take a positive out of the pandemic, he decided to knuckle down in the Spring of 2020 and focus on making beats, joining Commix’s “Bear Music” production school in order to try and accelerate navigating through the crazy learning curve it entails.  Still at the start of this journey, but with releases forthcoming on “Nurtured Beatz” as well as “Conjunction Recordings”, this is hopefully a path where the future is looking bright!
